Baseball Game Preview: Calallen Wildcats vs. Robstown Cottonpickers

Calallen is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will square off against the Robstown Cottonpickers at 7:00 p.m. Calallen is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Calallen's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Christian Academy.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Robstown). They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Carroll on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Calallen pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs on average over those games. As for Robstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Calallen took their win against Robstown in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calallen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
