Baseball Recap: Glendale Comes Up Short

Glendale's last matchup with Bishop Carroll could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Vikings lost 22-7 to the Huskies. The loss leaves the Vikings still looking for their first win of the season.

Levi Hamilton put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Hamilton wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was James Shaw, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three doubles, and two runs. Drue Storm also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Glendale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Bishop Carroll, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glendale will head out to take on Ferndale at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Carroll, they will venture away from home to challenge Bishop McCort at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crushers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.17 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
