Soccer Game Preview: Lecanto vs. Leesburg

The Lecanto Panthers will square off against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Lecanto is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Belleview. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Leesburg kept a clean sheet against Citrus last Friday. They blew past the Hurricanes 4-0. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by three goals or more this season.

They hit Citrus with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jesus Hernandez (2), Joseph Mendoza, and M'Zou Pierre.

Leesburg's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those seven games. As for Lecanto, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.

Lecanto suffered a grim 5-1 defeat to Leesburg in their previous matchup on January 9th. Can Lecanto avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
