Softball Recap: Hurricane Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Hurricane dropped their record down to 15-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Parkersburg South Patriots. Surprisingly, this marked the Redskins' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Hurricane saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexander Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Parkersburg South, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Parkersburg South's side, not much got past Anniston Shelton, who gave up just two hits and racked up 19 Ks to keep Hurricane off the board. Shelton has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hurricane will square off against Huntington at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Parkersburg South, they will welcome University at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Hawks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
