Crimson Cliffs and Dixie are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will welcome the Flyers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The team relied heavily on JASON MCARTHUR, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. CUTTER CHRISTENSEN was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Dixie came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tigers 14-2. The result was nothing new for the Flyers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Ethan McArthur spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Weston Gilmore was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Dixie: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Hunt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Dixie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Crimson Cliffs pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Dixie, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
