Cody faced Kelly Walsh in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Broncs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Broncs' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Kelly Walsh scored at least 17 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 25-21.

Grace Hays paced Cody's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hays got some help from Maddie Beaudrie and her 31 assists. Ellie Talich controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Kelly Walsh can attribute much of their success to Jenee Cantrell, who had 18 digs. Those 18 digs gave Cantrell a new career-high.

Cody's defeat dropped their record down to 23-2. As for Kelly Walsh, the victory (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Cody didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Lyman on the 10th. As for Kelly Walsh, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Evanston on the 11th.
