Softball Recap: Falfurrias Has No Trouble Against Monte Alto

Falfurrias won the last time they faced Monte Alto and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Fightin' Jerseys put the hurt on the Blue Devil with a sharp 19-1 win. With that victory, the Fightin' Jerseys brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Ava Hernandez was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kylie Cisneros, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Hernandez wasn't the only one making solid contact: Falfurrias kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for the Fightin' Jerseys: they were averaging 4.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.

Falfurrias has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-17-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Monte Alto, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coincidentally, Falfurrias and Monte Alto will both be playing IDEA Edinburg College Prep the next time they take the field. The Blue Devil will host IDEA Edinburg College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Fightin' Jerseys will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
