Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Comes Up Short

St. Augustine was the 10-0 winner over Mandarin when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Mandarin Mustangs by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Xavier Ahr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Skylar Kokoszka was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

St. Augustine's record now sits at 7-7. As for Mandarin, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will welcome St. Joseph Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Joseph Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something St. Augustine surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mandarin, they will host Andrew Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
