Jackpot is 0-10 against McDermitt since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Jackpot has struggled recently with 14 losses in a row, while McDermitt will arrive with six straight victories.
Jackpot suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by Owyhee 53-19. Jackpot was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-5.
Meanwhile, McDermitt put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Lund 59-19 at home. With McDermitt ahead 37-12 at the half, the game was all but over already.
McDermitt can attribute much of their success to Kiarra Crutcher, who scored 13 points, and Alexis Scott, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scott has scored all season. Reign Crutcher was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Jackpot bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.0 points per game. As for McDermitt, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Jackpot was dealt a bruising 61-11 loss at the hands of McDermitt in their previous matchup on January 5th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Scott, who scored 16 points along with three steals and three blocks.
