Softball Game Preview: San Luis Obispo Tigers vs. San Marcos Royals

The San Luis Obispo Tigers will square off against the San Marcos Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. San Luis Obispo's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so San Marcos' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

San Luis Obispo played against Santa Maria on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

San Marcos easily dispatched Buena on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Royals fell just short of Cabrillo by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Royals couldn't push the score so high this time.

San Marcos saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Solana Sandoval, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

The victory (which was San Luis Obispo's third in a row) raised their record to 13-9-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.

San Luis Obispo came up short against San Marcos when the teams last played back in March of 2016, falling 9-4. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
