Softball Game Preview: Millington Central Trojans vs. Brighton Cardinals

Millington Central is 0-6 against Brighton since March of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Trojans will take on the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Millington Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Millington Central's offense. They lost 10-0 to Munford on Tuesday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Brighton entered their tilt with Covington on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Chargers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cardinals have posted against the Chargers since April 26, 2022.

The team relied heavily on Kaitlyn Chapman, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Aeryl Potter, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Brighton pushed their record up to 14-6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Millington Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12-1.
