Basketball Recap: Mary Mehan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oakcrest over Seton

Oakcrest and Seton squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Oakcrest had to settle for second. The matchup between the Oakcrest Chargers and the Seton Conquistadors didn't end well, with the Oakcrest Chargers falling 57-39. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Conquistadors recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mary Mehan, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Mehan is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Newsome, who posted 16 points and seven boards.

Oakcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Seton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Oakcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-31 win against Trinity Christian on the 22nd.
