Basketball Recap: Aydon Austin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead the Academy over Sterling

The Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sterling, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wildcats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 75-73 on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aydon Austin, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 assists. Adrian Gurerro was another key player, shooting 58% from the field to rack up 21 points.

The Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Sterling, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coming up, The Academy will head out on the road to challenge Rocky Mountain Prep SMART at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sterling, they will be home for the holidays to greet Platte Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
