Baseball Recap: Tivy Has No Trouble Against Veterans Memorial

Tivy won the last time they faced Veterans Memorial and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Antlers blew past the Patriots 7-1.

James Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Guy Flores was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Tivy is 4-2 when Flores posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robert Johnson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Tivy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Veterans Memorial, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-18.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tivy beat the Patriots by a score of 12-3 on Friday.
