Softball Recap: Jefferson Forest Wins High-Profile Game Against Staunton River

Jefferson Forest faced Staunton River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Cavaliers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Golden Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Cavaliers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Amelia Long spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jefferson Forest's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kimber Spence, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
