Softball Recap: Center Grove Starts Season with Victory at Home

Center Grove gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They skirted past the Westfield Shamrocks 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Shamrocks: they've now won four in a row.

Kara Biever looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mae Munson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addison Wolff was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Westfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Center Grove will welcome Fishers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Westfield their first taste of in-conference action this season.
