Southern is 9-1 against Trimble since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Tornadoes will square off against the Tomcats at 4:00 p.m. Southern's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Trimble's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Southern blew Eastern out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Eastern got their revenge. The Tornadoes fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-5. The Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Trimble entered their tilt with Waterford on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tomcats, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Jessa Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Kasler, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Harvey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Trimble kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Trimble's victory bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.
Southern skirted past Trimble 5-4 when the teams last played back in April. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Tomcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
