Baseball Game Preview: Nogales Nobles vs. Duarte Falcons

For the second straight game, Nogales will face off against Duarte. The Nobles will welcome the Falcons at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Nogales is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Duarte 13-2 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Nobles considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Eddie Salazar spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Nogales' success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 5-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Josh Chavez was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David Mora, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Chavez wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Nogales lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Duarte has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Nogales, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
