Baseball Recap: Indio Has No Trouble Against University Prep

Indio's hitters rose to the challenge against a Jaguars pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.9 runs allowed on Thursday. Indio blew past the University Prep Jaguars 12-1.

Zackary Muniz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Indio let Julian Mandujano and Jose Rodriguez run wild. Mandujano scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Rodriguez scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Mandujano has become a key player for Indio: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Hernandez, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Indio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Indio's record now sits at 5-10. As for University Prep, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indio will face off against Indian Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Excelsior Charter at 3:15 p.m. on April 1.
