Baseball Recap: Wiregrass Wins Going Away Against East Central Homeschool

Wiregrass never got on the board in their matchup last Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against East Central HomeSchool on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 11-3 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Kings' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Zach Crisler and Owen Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Crisler tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Brown pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Crisler also tossed no walks, which is notable because Wiregrass is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise. At bat, Crisler went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Brown went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Treadaway, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Wiregrass is undefeated when Treadaway posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Simmons, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Wiregrass hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Central HomeSchool struck out eight times.

Wiregrass is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for East Central HomeSchool, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

As of now, neither Wiregrass nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
