Baseball Game Preview: Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies vs. Bishop Watterson Eagles

The Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies will square off against the Bishop Watterson Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Johnstown-Monroe fell victim to Newark Catholic and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Green Wave. The Johnnies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Bishop Watterson came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Fighting Scots.

Bishop Watterson got a great performance from Max Steinbrunner as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Steinbrunner has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben Burleson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Holcomb, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Johnstown-Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Bishop Watterson, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
