Baseball Game Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. Dunedin Falcons

The Northeast Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Dunedin Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Monday, Northeast didn't have quite enough to beat Hollins and fell 2-1.

Xander Gericke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Northeast saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Bongo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Dunedin's offense. They lost 6-0 to Lemont on Monday.

Dunedin has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. Northeast's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-9.

Northeast came out on top in a nail-biter against Dunedin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Does Northeast have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dunedin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
