Preview: Corinth Warriors vs. Clarksdale Wildcats

After two games on the road, Corinth is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Clarksdale Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Corinth, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-48 loss to New Hope. While losing is never fun, Corinth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while New Hope is ranked second).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cayden Harris, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Crump, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Clarksdale's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 77-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pontotoc. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Clarksdale in their matchups with Pontotoc: they've now lost three in a row.

Corinth now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Clarksdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Corinth didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Clarksdale in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, but they still walked away with a 56-51 victory. Will Corinth repeat their success, or does Clarksdale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
