Baseball Recap: Morehead Takes a Loss

Morehead started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Person. They fell just short of the Person Rockets by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Morehead saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Wade, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Wade is becoming a predictor of Morehead's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Jackson Silvers also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Morehead's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Person, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morehead will welcome Walkertown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walkertown will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Morehead surely won't give up without a fight. As for Person, they will square off against Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Person is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
