Football Recap: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Northglenn Norsemen
Fort Collins gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They breezed by the Northglenn Norsemen at home to the tune of 48-18. That's more bragging rights for the Lambkins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Fort Collins was led to victory by Justin Cranford and Jack Mckeon. Cranford rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries, while Mckeon rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Mckeon got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 71 yards. Levi Hermsen also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fort Collins was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northglenn only rushed for 83.
Fort Collins' defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Finn O?Mara and Griffin Campain.
Despite the loss, Northglenn still got an impressive performance from Josiah'Ez Stevenson, who picked up 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 77 yards.
Northglenn is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Fort Collins will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Collins is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Northglenn, they will venture away from home to challenge Prairie View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
