Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Olivia Barta and Kenley Anderson Lead Wausa to Victory

There's no place like home for Wausa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Boyd County Spartans 39-37. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Wausa was led to victory by Kenley Anderson and Olivia Barta. Anderson posted 13 points and three steals, while Barta had 11 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Barta a new career-high in points.

Despite the loss, Boyd County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Elly Zeisler earned six points and five rebounds.

The win got Wausa back to even at 1-1. As for Boyd County, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Wausa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-32 victory against Creighton on the 10th. As for Boyd County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-27 loss against Hartington-Newcastle on the 10th.
