Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Hoisington Cardinals
The Lyons Lions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hoisington Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hoisington took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lyons, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Lyons was able to grind out a solid victory over Nickerson, taking the game 49-37. The win was just what Lyons needed coming off of a 57-33 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Hoisington came up short against Haven on Thursday and fell 45-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hoisington in their matchups with Haven: they've now lost three in a row.
Lyons pushed their record up to 7-9 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Hoisington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Lyons came up short against Hoisington in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 65-52. Thankfully for Lyons, Leyton Haxton (who almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
