After flying high against La Jolla Country Day on Monday, San Ysidro came back down to earth. The Cougars took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montgomery Aztecs on Thursday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Ximena Ulloa and Lizette Herrera did some serious damage despite the final result: Ulloa went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI, while Herrera went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Herrera has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Maldonado, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

San Ysidro's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-6. As for Montgomery, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Ysidro will face off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Montgomery, they will take on Sweetwater at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
