Basketball Game Preview: Sumner Tigers vs. Searsport Vikings

The Sumner Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Searsport Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Sumner will head out to face Searsport after giving up their first home loss of the season on Monday. Sumner took a blow against Mattanawcook, falling 86-36. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Lynx are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Searsport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-19 loss at the hands of Jonesport-Beals. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Sumner's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Searsport, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Sumner against Searsport in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumner since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
