Softball Recap: Olean Triumphs

Olean came out on top against Southwestern on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Huskies took their contest against the Trojans 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Tiana Maine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alaina Hirliman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Finch, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Olean now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southwestern, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Olean will head out to face off against Fredonia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Southwestern has already played their next matchup (against Gowanda), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
