Softball Recap: Jackson Has No Trouble Against Citronelle

Jackson barely beat Citronelle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Aggies were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wildcats on Thursday. The Aggies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 matches by six runs or more this season.

Zoey Rooks made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Rocker, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Gabby Howard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Jackson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Jackson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Citronelle, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

Jackson has already played their next game (against Millry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Citronelle, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Paul's Episcopal at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th.
