Baseball Recap: Garfield Takes a Loss

Newport - Bellevue hit Garfield with a nine-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs lost 10-2 to the Knights. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Garfield got a good showing from Wyatt Bare, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Bare is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Garfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Woods, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Garfield's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Newport - Bellevue, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-17.

As of now, neither Garfield nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
