Softball Game Preview: Pearce Mustangs vs. Eagle Mountain Knights

The Pearce Mustangs will take on the Eagle Mountain Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pearce comes in on eight and Eagle Mountain on five.

Pearce will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Nimitz, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Mustangs blew past the Vikings 15-5 on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alexa Falk was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mio Hanafusa, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Falk wasn't the only one making solid contact: Pearce kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Eagle Mountain beat Decatur 5-1 on Friday.

Ashlyn Eggleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Simiya Oliver, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Eagle Mountain's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Pearce, the victory got them back to even at 12-12-1.
