Baseball Recap: Carmel Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Carmel dropped their record down to 17-10 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 8-5 to the Los Gatos Wildcats. The Padres were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Matt Maxon was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Los Gatos, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Los Gatos' side, Matt Ludeman tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Ludeman has posted since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Simon, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As of now, neither Carmel nor Los Gatos have any future games scheduled.
