Basketball Game Preview: Colony Knights vs. Kodiak Bears

Colony is 8-2 against Kodiak since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Colony Knights will face off against the Kodiak Bears at 7:00 p.m. Kodiak took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Colony, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Colony didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mountain City Christian Academy, but they still walked away with a 52-48 victory.

Colony's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Leyton Lockard, who en route to 22 points, and Malik Balmes, who posted 11 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Balmes a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%).

Colony smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain City Christian Academy only three offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Kodiak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 67-51 to Palmer. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Moose are ranked tenth).

Colony now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Kodiak, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Everything came up roses for Colony against Kodiak in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 67-25 win. Will Colony repeat their success, or does Kodiak have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
