Gallia Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Marietta Tigers a 13-0 shutout. The Blue Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Colbie Nida made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Nida was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Gallia Academy got a massive performance out of Ava Angel, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Maggie Davis, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Gallia Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marietta only posted a batting average of .083.

Having lost for the first time this season, Marietta fell to 2-1.

Coincidentally, Gallia Academy and Marietta will both be playing Athens the next time they take the field. Marietta will host Athens at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Gallia Academy will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
