Baseball Recap: Gonzaga Prep Finds Playoff Glory Versus Chiawana

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gonzaga Prep had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Chiawana Riverhawks as they made off with a 13-3 victory. Considering the Bullpups have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Gonzaga Prep got a great performance from Dylan Croall as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Brady Strahl was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Yost, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Gonzaga Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the seventh in a row for Gonzaga Prep, bringing their record up to 18-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chiawana, they dropped their record down to 12-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Gonzaga Prep nor the Riverhawks have any future games scheduled.
