Softball Recap: Loyola Academy Find Success

While Loyola Academy's victory against Saint Viator wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ramblers skirted past the Lions 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Ramblers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.

Hunter Lewis was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Lewis wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leanna Keller, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Keller has posted over her last nine matchups. Another was Emilia Bartholomew, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Loyola Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Loyola Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-15. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Viator, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-19.

Loyola Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-6 victory against Lane Tech on the 14th. As for Saint Viator, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-5 defeat against St. Francis on the 13th.
