Basketball Recap: Thea Williams Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Plant City

Middleton lost to Plant City back in January of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Middleton Tigers snuck past the Plant City Raiders with a 42-37 victory.

Middleton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thea Williams, who posted 15 points. What's more, Williams also posted a 40% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Zion Cooper was another key player, putting up seven points and 12 boards.

Middleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chyanne Gines, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. Gines is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harmoney Ford, who scored eight points and ten rebounds.

Middleton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Plant City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Middleton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-27 win against King on the 4th. As for Plant City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-38 defeat against McKeel Academy on the 1st.
