Softball Game Preview: Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles vs. South Bend Adams Eagles

Elkhart Christian Academy will square off against South Bend Adams at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Elkhart Christian Academy is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. Everything went their way against Oregon-Davis as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won three in a row.

Naomi Herbster made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Brianna Ehninger was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Ryleigh Viront was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, South Bend Adams posted their closest victory since May 13, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Northridge.

Angela McNellis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chloe Prikosovich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zariyah Wiley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
