Baseball Game Preview: Plainview Indians vs. Elgin Owls

For the second straight game, Plainview will face off against Elgin. The Indians will face off against the Owls at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Plainview has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Elgin will arrive with three straight victories.

On Monday, Plainview came up short against Elgin and fell 6-1.

For Elgin's part, Jaxon Southerland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Southerland has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kade Hilliary, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kason Meyer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Elgin's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Plainview, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
