Basketball Recap: Demetrius Elliot's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southern Wayne over Fike

Southern Wayne suffered their closest loss since November 15, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Fike Demons by a score of 75-72. The Saints haven't had much luck with the Demons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Southern Wayne lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Demetrius Elliot, who went 7-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kairell Evans, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Southern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Fike, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7.
