Softball Recap: Lindenwold Lions vs. Gateway Regional Gators

Lindenwold had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-11 to make it 12. They lost 16-1 to the Gateway Regional Gators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in April.

As for Gateway Regional, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by nine runs or more this season.

For Gateway Regional's part, Savannah Smith looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Smith has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brooke Ream was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Gould, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lindenwold will face off against Haddon Township at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gateway Regional, they will square off against Gloucester City at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
