Baseball Game Preview: JAG Jaguars vs. Enterprise Wildcats

For the second straight game, JAG will face off against Enterprise. A feisty cat fight will be fought as JAG Jaguars face off against Enterprise Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. JAG has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

JAG fell victim to Enterprise and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Wildcats. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Jaguars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Enterprise's part, Brady Cavanaugh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Cavanaugh has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Mikey Vanderheyden and Walker Turner did most of the damage at the plate: Vanderheyden went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one stolen base, while Turner scored two runs while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs Turner has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cayden Boutwell, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Enterprise always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Enterprise, bringing their record up to 20-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of five runs across that stretch. As for JAG, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.
