Softball Recap: Hamilton Has No Trouble Against Xavier Prep

Hamilton never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Xavier Prep Saints as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaitlynn Barreto made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Jayden Vargas was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Wisda, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Hamilton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Xavier Prep, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamilton will head out to face off against Temecula Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Xavier Prep, they will face off against Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
