Basketball Recap: Fort Lupton Takes a Loss

Fort Lupton lost against Resurrection Christian back in January of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Fort Lupton Bluedevils took a blow against the Resurrection Christian Cougars, falling 84-26. The Bluedevils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-12.

Despite the loss, Fort Lupton had strong showings from Marely Gomez, who posted seven points and four steals, and Jasmine Tapia, who earned four points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Tapia a new career-high in assists (two).

Olivia Klein continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Resurrection Christian, going 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on her way to 31 points and four steals. Klein is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Callie Gillespie, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 15 points.

Fort Lupton dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Resurrection Christian, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Fort Lupton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-34 loss against Conifer on the 8th. As for Resurrection Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-40 win against Berthoud on the 8th.
