Volleyball Game Preview: New Washington Mustangs vs. Charlestown Pirates

New Washington hasn't had much luck against Charlestown recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Pirates at 9:00 a.m. Charlestown took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on New Washington, who comes in off a win.

New Washington proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out South Central 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Rebels since October 14, 2017.

New Washington was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (105-101), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-20, 27-25, 17-25, 17-25, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Charlestown came up short against Christian Academy on Thursday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-19, 25-12.

Charlestown's loss dropped their record down to 11-17. As for New Washington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-18 record this season.

New Washington suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Charlestown when the teams last played back in August. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
