Softball Recap: Mayfield Wins Going Away Against Canajoharie

Mayfield barely beat Canajoharie the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Cougars on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Kaylee Klymkow made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Klymkow was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, October Herting was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Jamie Danforth was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Mayfield now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Canajoharie, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Mayfield will square off against Galway at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Canajoharie, they will challenge Johnstown at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are facing the Sir Bills at the right time seeing as the Sir Bills are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
