            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Conway Christian, Baptist Prep was happy to have turned things around  on Thursday. They put the hurt on the McGehee Owls with a sharp  18-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matchups by ten  runs or more  so far this season.
 Jon Ramirez tossed a big game,   pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   seven  hits. That's the fewest  earned runs  he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

 On the hitting side, Baptist Prep got a  massive  performance out of  Austin Herring, who  scored five  runs and  stole  Three bases. while  getting on base  in all five of his plate appearances. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Herring a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Preston Somers, who  went a perfect 4-for-4 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base.
Baptist Prep's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for McGehee,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-4.
 Coming up, Baptist Prep will venture away from home to  challenge Quitman  at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Baptist Prep knows how to get  runs on the board -- the  squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Quitman likes a good challenge. As for McGehee, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Central  at 4:30  p.m. McGehee has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
