Softball Game Preview: Weatherford Kangaroos vs. Boswell Pioneers

The Weatherford Kangaroos will challenge the Boswell Pioneers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Weatherford's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over North Crowley.

Meanwhile, Boswell made easy work of North Crowley on Monday and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Pioneers have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Boswell got a great performance from Harley Malone as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Malone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dallas Rutter, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Tullis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Boswell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Crowley only posted an OBP of .167.

Boswell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.3 runs. Weatherford's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Weatherford beat Boswell 8-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Weatherford repeat their success, or does Boswell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
